Taps: 2278 and Simi Open Mat

Taps: 14. Total: 2278.

First time back with my Purple, and they really welcomed me with a beatdown ... gi burns on my neck from all the Bow and Arrow Choke attempts on me (think I tapped twice and a bunch of escapes); elbow and shoulder sore from getting armbarred and Omoplatted.

Purple Sky got the overhook on me and transitioned to Omo at will. Even from Half Guard Bottom, I would get the underhook and try my pass and he would hip out, control that arm, and that was that -- Omo city.

A tiny little Blue got a Bolo on my from sitting, and I maybe should have watched Kit Dale's Bolo Counter. No biggie.

Speaking of Bolos, I did get Purple Matt down on his butt like Aesopian's suggestion with the off foot on his stomach, but couldn't invert from there (because I haven't drilled it).

Should drill that and the Omo set up.

Taps: 2264

Taps: 5. Total: 2264.

Black Vince - Side ESC series. Get the Underhook. Get on Side. Suck in my elbow.

Trying to add the Clamp down Rollover ESC to my toolbox, too.

On my mind:
1. Deep Half Entries.
2. Berimbolo.
3. X Guard entries.
4. Shin to Shin Guard.

Taps: 2259 and Apt. training

Taps: 4. Total: 2259.

Now that we are both Purples, not a whole lot has changed about Brian and I. Just a little bit smoother. He's trained at a bunch of places the past few months, learned a ton of cool, new techniques and he's starting to get overwhelmed as he tries to digest it all.

Anyway, we tried a few.

For me, I got to work a couple of stuff from Liera's Closed Guard dvd. 2-on-1 armdrag and the Xande Sweep, and Muscle Sweep. I'm going to add Omoplata soon.

Oh, and my Sit Up Guard Sucks. He kept going right through into Knee Slice. Need to look into Sit Up Guard.

Also, keep working Deep Half and X Guard. And Around the World Wiper Drill.

Taps: 2255

Taps: 4. Total: 2255.

Black Vince.

1. Butterfly to X Guard.
  a. if they stand or put knee up to defend sweep.

** details: -- dive under the raised leg, don't move the other side hook, get same side leg out and over my other leg, and GET KNEE INSIDE (between his legs, behind him).

** also leg lock series, which I am not ready to put in my toolbox yet.

Rolling with Purple Josh -- he's quicker than I in the transition and scrambles. And that was the difference. Tried the Lo Half Pass but couldn't get Underhook on him, but I just remembered I should try Lo's Plan B - cross collar face crank if I can't get the Underhook.

He also suggested going one way first before going the other way sweep in Deep Half. Good detail I need to remember.

Purple Brian came back from East Coast, trained at Renzo's, and showed a couple of stuff from there. Main one - Half Sweep, belly down.

Also, a Hybrid Guard, Omo setup, Spider to Triangle.

Thinking about:
X Guard
Deep Half
Closed Guard

Go back and Review -- Butterfly Passes.

Taps: 2251

Taps: 2. Total: 2251.

Black Vince.

1. Three point/Tripod push sweep.
  a. From Closed Guard - left butterfly hook, and the guy stands.
  b. Left hand controls right ankle, left foot on his right hip, right foot just behind his left ankle.
  c. Push on his hip with the left foot.

2. Butterfly Sweep A.
  a. Left hook in, and he grabs knee to push down.
  b. Underhook on the left side, right hand comes in front of his face and link hands.
  c. Fall to my right and lift with the hook for the sweep.

3. Butterfly Sweep B - Double Underhooks.
  a. Scoot close enough to link my hands behind him.
  b. Get my head below his head, on his chest, and fall straight back.

4. Butterfly Sweep C - push out his knee.

Black Chris.

1. Closed Guard - nice Scissor Sweep setup to Triangle, postures back and go for armbar.

2. If he stands, hook his leg and get my leg over his face for traditional armbar.

Bonus:

Brown Chris showed a Side Control to Ninja Roll Back Take.
  a. Get crossface out, onto other side of his face, my elbow tight against side of his head.
  b. Scoot back toward his head, and completely kill his near arm.
  c. Both my hands on the mat, below his hand.
  d. Roll over my left shoulder, kick with my right.
  e. Back take, keep the bottom hook, get right top hook in.

Fancy. About as fancy as I'm gonna get.

All the Brown Belts are very very heavy in Side Control. Cannot hang out there anymore.
