3465

Taps: 9. Total: 3465.

Nice drill -- Kenny B. special ... Kob B, both knees on belly, backstep to mount, step off to Side Control on other side. Nice.

BB Coach - Knee Ba -- open guard, front foot, other foot back steps and sits down on his belly, facing away. Outside foot tucks in, grabs leg for Knee Ba.

a. If he counters by triangling his leg ... angle, grab his top foot for ANKLE Lock.

Rolled with BB Coach twice.

Working on Lo Variation of Torreando, getting it half right and still getting the Pass.

Keep at the Posture Break to Hip Bump, and Casablanca gi wrap.

Still 3444 and Sunday Funday and Passing 16.3

Taps: 0. Total: 3444.

Sunday with BB Joel. Triangles and takedowns.

Passing - got it down to THREE Passes that I want to keep refining.

1. Lo's Torreado -- Push and Steer.

2. Bruchesha Gi Pass - Modified X. 3 Steps to one side, then come back.

3. Sky Knee Cut Re-direct

Just drill the hell out of these passes.

Man, i feel like such a White Belt at Takedowns. Need to plug that hole in my game. Another thing to work on.

Triangle from Mount - well, i learned my legs are too short for that, and I need to roll to bottom to finish it. Two times that I had that position before on Purple Eduardo - I hurt my ankle because I didn't have it locked in all the way, and the second time I let it go before I got hurt.

3444

Taps: 7. Total: 3444.

BB Chris - I. Armbar Break from S Mount.

* Best Defense with Gi -- attacked Arm grabs gi collar, other arm grabs elbow of attacked arm.

To Break Armbar Defense -- 1. Back arm (arm farther from his head) get under the attacked arm and grabs my own Gi at chest level; 2. Left leg heavy on his face, ideally make him face away; 3. Cross my feet with left leg on bottom; 4. Left hand reaches over grabs his other elbow and pulls toward me, gives me room to get my right hand further down his attacked arm -- get it over his elbow, below his arm, and blade on my hand just under the wrist; 5. other hand grabs all his fingers for Wrist Lock. That will break his grip.

In general, attack the WRIST area. It's weakest area. No matter what kind of defense he does. Attack the wrist, even using switching "climbing the ladder" tech to get all the way to his wrist.

II. Side Attack - Gi wrap over his Elbow to Baseball Choke.
 a. Undo gi, pull it over his far elbow and feed to my crossface hand.
 b. Kill near arm with my left knee, keep it tight, connecting crossface hand/elbow to that knee.
 c. Right hand pulls on his far elbow.
 d. Knee on Belly, then Left hand gi grip makes a little room for right hand to also grip in Baseball grip on it.
 e. Left foot that was mat, steps back a little, right knee on belly comes off and knee slides into his bicep and my head comes around N/S to finish the Choke.

** Fail -- on the Closed Guard Hip Bump Sweep setup that I'm calling the Slingshot.
 1. Break Posture by pulling back on his head with both heads. Hold him there for it little bit.
 2. Let go. Let him Posture up. Then HIP BUMP.

Also, keep drilling the Flower Sweep.

3437

Taps: 7. Total: 3437.

BB Vince - 3 Takedowns.

I. Off Re-Pummel
 a. He tries to re-pummel, grab that elbow/shoulder
 b. bring him forward, turn, toss.

II. Off Duck Under
 a. He ducks under, before he can take my Back, reach over his back/side, grab material.
 b. Twist/Whip my hip

III. Var. Fireman's Carry
 a. Left hand same side sleeve grip, lead with elbow, tucks under.
 b. My head follows, ducks under, Fireman carry, toss over.

Asked Vince for Sit Up Guard tips, since I had trouble at the Open Mat, with those Blues almost getting an armbar on me.

1. If they BACKSTEP, follow them in that direction.
2. Scoop up their leg with my inside leg, come up into Single Leg.

Working On:
1. Bruch Pass
2. Flower Sweep
3. Fowler Unstoppable Sweep (at this point, very stoppable)
4. Posture Break setup to Hip Bump Sweep.

Passion and Inspiration of BB Kenny B

He's a Black Belt. Owns his own academy. Has a family. Yet he still competes. Comes to all the other schools, rolls with everyone. Comes to all the other Open Mats, like he's a Blue Belt, or something. He's the opposite of Burned Out on BJJ.

I sure hope I'm like that when I'm a Black Belt.

3430 and Back ESC

Taps: 7. Total: 3430.

BB Chris - Back ESC 1
 a. Trap his arms
 b. Fall to Underhook side (away from Choking top arm)
 c. Scoot up, level head to his head.
 d. Stiff arm top leg so he can't Mount
 e. Shrimp back

ESC 2
 a. cover up, chin down.
 b. Saulo's scoot down, down, down.
 c. clear one hook, turn into the other hook.

My money Reverse Scissor Sweep has morphed into a Reverse Butterfly Sweep. Just as high percentage and unexpected. I can usually get it at the beginning of a Roll, starting on Knees ...
 1. Cross sleeve grip, cross collar grip.
 2. Right foot hook, in between his legs.
 3. As I fall back, pull with cross collar grip and use hook to lift him to the left and he falls because my cross sleeve grip takes his base away.

Blue Belts - must roll with more of them, every opportunity that I get. They know just enough to be dangerous, and keep me on my toes. Blue Belt had me in Mount for a while, tried an Ezekiel - no go. Then I got to Half and he was trying an Ezekiel from there, and I tried to Leite Sweep, but finally got him with TriForce Sweep. Sheesh. Must respect the Blue Belts.

Brown Mike, aka 10th Planet, always getting my with Nogi stuff. D'arce, and today Twister all day. He was working his Twister game. Which means I need look up a TWISTER COUNTER.
