19.47 Sunday Confessions 5247 / tri 70

Taps: 6. Total: 5247 / 70 tri

All taps to Brn Nick. Get squished, smashed by him here and by BB Z at home base. the two toughest guys i know. With Nick, he grabs a foot or a knee, it's over. And he was working the DDS straight jacket system on me. Need to get on that once i can get the back consistently.

Now that i can Pass, get to Side Control and maintain Side, need a Sub from there or go to Mount, and sub from there. Trying to work Scully's N/S to Rev Kesa to near Armbar, but i'm doing something wrong. Need to review.

*Scully Near side Armbar.

https://www.watchbjj.com/technique/favorite-top-game-armbar-jason-scully/

I also saw Milton Viera has a version of it, too.

I was not getting the second leg over.

then Albert has a easier one, too.

But Nick got disgusted with me and showed me an easier Tech ... from N/S go to Rev Kesa, lock in his far arm with my elbow, lock in near side with my knee, bring his knees down close to me ... MOUNT and rainlock his arm into ARM TRIANGLE.

update: found the Milton Viera version:

**slick bc he tucks his own arm under his leg so the guy has no chance to link his arms.

19.46 Saturday Breakfast Club 5241 / 70 tri

Taps: 6. Total: 5241 / 70 tri

BB Chris ... I. Double Under to Over / Under Pass

II. To Choke, lifting up the butt.

Huge class, about 30 peeps. 6 BBs.

Drill: entry to High Guard and 2on1 Side Guard to Armbar and Flower Sweep (teach me grapp).

BB Z -- i'm always happy to see him. But he's a monster, and i roll with him and i'm always left wondering, why am i always happy to see him? Look, when you can survive him, there's nothing worse left. You've survived the biggest, baddest dude there. it's mental toughness training.

He's always going to tap me, but each time it's going to take a little longer, a little more effort on his part.

Taps: 7. Total: 5235 / 70 tri

Rolling w Brn Nick -- afterwards, all i could think about was the quote: "the light at the end of the tunnel is actually an oncoming freakin' TRAIN."

Drilling w Savage ... he showed me a 50/50 escape ... scoot and get my off-foot UNDER the 50/50 and come out or backstep.

Drilling w Blue One hand ... was trying the jump flower Takedown but he showed me a easier TD -- 1. Collar Drag and slide/sit down; 2. Capt Hook .. wait for the push back and post on his hip or chest and take him overhead.

Reminder: Hitch Hiker ESC ... roll AWAY from my arm.

19.43 Sunday Confessions 5223 / 65 tri

Taps: 5. Total: 5223 / 65 tri.

Starting more aggressive, even with Blue One Hand. Had Mount to Triangle, but didn't think fast enough to adjust the angle to lock it up before he stood up and hulked out of it.

Tried the Roger Bow and Arrow escape, fail -- bc i couldn't break the pants grip, but if i could, need t roll into the grip. Second time - just ducked under like i normally do.

Success -- Darce esc and KoB esc -- need to transition into footlock.

Brn Nick was showing a sneaky Slicer when they Z Guard Half, wrap up the top leg and if they don't tap, go up wrap up the head for Pass or tap.

Review:
1. X pass
2. Half Pass -- R. Hall Smash.

19.41 Sunday Confessions 5212 / 65 tri

Taps: 7. Total: 5212 / 65 tri

Can't believe Brn Nick has only two stripes. he's a monster. he shows up, destroys everyone and leaves. And he keeps escaping my top Side by pushing on my armpits. I gotta learn that. i think Purp Ira does the same thing.

Armpit Push Side ESC.

Blue Spencer the Red from Steve's place in Noho ... very chill style. Med flow.

One handed Blue ... he's so strong. Cannot let him settle in top Half. He has gotten me in Kimura and Americanas from there, and almost did today, too. And he likes the Arm Triangle from there. Need to stop the CROSSFACE and get Kneeshield in. Don't get LAZY.

New guy there, Brn Dio ... and he tries to Wristlock me in the first 20 sec and i pulled back to defend and he catches my mangled, taped up fingers. sheesh.

Was a bit more aggressive bc i've got Haueter's Rules in my head.

1. Fight to get to the TOP. Stay on Top.
2. When on Bottom, have a Guard. They shall NOT Pass.
3. Don't forget Rule #1 ... easily forgotten due to the seductive and lazy nature of Guard.

Need to get that tattoed on me.

Need to work on Passing then, to get to the Top.

19.40 Saturday Breakfast Club 5205 / 65 tri

Taps: 3. Total: 5205 / 65 tri

BB Joel ... I. Tai Otoshi ... sweeping like Uchimata
 a. Standard grips, Left foot steps forward and outside his right foot
 b. Lean him toward the left, UNBALANCE HIM and get all his weight on his RIGHT FOOT
 c. my Right foot swings to outside of his right leg and SWEEPS his leg like Uchimata (but on outside reap)

II. Tai Otoshi 2
 a. Same as above except ... Left foot STEPS BACK, bringing his right foot forward, but make sure to UNBALANCE before sweeping the leg Jonny.
 b. Go into Armbar finish

III. KoB sequence
 a. top grip palm down on his outside collar, other grip on waist or on knee
 b. pop up to KoB ... pull with collar grip
 c. Reverse KoB to Back Step into Mount ... Step off into Side Control on other side

d . when in Mount / S Mount into Armbar

Just when i thought i was the merde (that's the fancy sh2#@$t), i rolled with BB Z and he brought me back down to Earth. All three taps were to him. Although i made tiny tiny progress ... got a Half Guard roll under sweep on him and also Passed his Guard.

Was being more aggressive today, heeding BB Vince's words and Hauteur's Golden Rules. Get on Top, Stay on Top etc.

Thinking about Takedowns:

1. Tai Otoshi (above)
2. Overhook Uchi
3. Knee down outside Seoi
4. Rev. Seoi

19.39 Thur Am 5202 / 65 tri and FOURTH STRIPE on BROWN!

Taps: 2. Total: 5202 / 65 tri ...

BBs in the house: Vince, Mike, Mord, Steve, Chris G. and Chris (head honch)

BB Chris ...
 I. Armbar from Back DRILL
 a. Fall towards his feet on Underhook side or frame against his head and push away to get space to get leg over for the Armbar

II. from Tues ... Spiderweb Armbar, he defends ...
 a. Kneebar

III. Half Guard Top to Kneebar
a. Swing free leg over his head, Kneebar

IV. He defends by Triangling his Legs
a. Gather both feet, go for straight footlock on off foot, to free the other foot
b. Weave over/under the other foot ... Kneebar.

Bonus Time:
 1. BB Mike -- Worm-like tech .. DLR and pass gi under his leg ... stretch him out with the other foot ... that same foot hooks low on his ankle for the SWEEP

 2. BB Vince ... Kimura grip w/ N/S ... can't finish bc he gets on his side ... hand that's on his wrist goes for Underhook his arm ... put my hip/butt on his belly to Flatten him to Side Control ... trap his other arm between my legs ... go back to KIMURA but from Side instead of N/S.

 3. BB Steve ... Triangle Setup ... half Spider with foot on his bicep ... other foot KICKS out his knee ... that BREAKS HIS POSTURE ... can swing and lock up Triangle with the foot that was on his bicep.

Good talk/REMINDER from BB Vince -- KEEP MOVING and fight to GET TO TOP and STAY on TOP.

I really need to FOCUS on that ...especially with Higher belts / Purple and above and bigger guys.
** with lower belts, I can work Bottom and Sweeps.

Just what Hauteur says --  Golden Rule of BJJ #1. Be on Top, Stay on Top and Win on Top.
#2 -- Win on Bottom, Have a Guard, and Tho Shall Not Pass the Jiu Jitsu Guard. (sweep to get to TOP.)
#3 -- don't forget about rule number one due to the temptation to be a lazy jiu jitsu fighter and stay comfortable in the guard.
