Taps: 3252

Taps: 6. Total: 3252.

BB Chris - Double Leg, lift up and toss to side. I sucked at the picking up. I prefer to cut the corner or do outside reap on the leg.

II. Combat Base counter - DLR hook, scoop up and knee cut the other knee and go for Cross Collar Choke.

Focus:
1. Side ESC - Roll Over.
2. Half Guard - Leite.

Taps: 3246

Taps: 7. Total: 3246.

BB Chris - Footlock review.

Almost got it on Brn Dean. Couldn't finish. And only passed his Butterfly Guard once, a jump over. Need to maybe smash his knees to one side first? Or look at Kesting's Twitch Pass again.

Closed Guard - keep forgetting about Flower Sweep. Also, drill Shoulder Push Omoplata.

Escapes - Side - Sit Up.

Half Guard - Leite.

Passing - from BB Bond: Stand to pass. Get my grips. Get my Distance (so he can't get grips or put his feet on my hips or get hooks). Then pass to either side.

Taps: 3239

Taps: 6. Total: 3239

BB Chris - review of Leglock / Kneebar from Tues.

II. Sit up Guard Gi Tail Wrap to Single.
 a. Inside leg (non-DLR foot) hooks, scoops up the foot as I come up.

Tried the Braulio High Guard Armbar on Brn Chris. He was too tight on me and protecting his arm, but I manged to switch to Omoplata. I tried to turn him over and when I did, he took my back in the scramble. Hmmph.

Brn Armam showed me a nice setup to the Omo -- right foot on his shoulder, push and turn his body and go into the Omo. I guess I can also go for the Triangle, too.

As BB Bond keeps telling me, Stand to Pass. Stand to Pass. Stand to Pass. Keep getting Butterfly Swept and Scissor Swept.

At least, when I'm rolling I can forget about the other crappy things in my life. My job being at the top of the list.

What to drill next? what to drill?

Escapes, Closed Guard, Passing.
Escapes, Closed Guard, Passing.

Taps: 3233, and my Curriculum

Taps: 4. Total: 3233.

Wasn't feeling it this morning, didn't feel like going to class. But I'm glad that I did. Felt so much better during and after. Must have sweated off all the crappy feelings.

BB Chris -- Footlock from Open Guard Top.

Misc: Mild success with Leite Half, but need to tweak the Sit Up ESC ... after I sit up, hip out a little and get a hook in.

Need a couple of Turtle Attacks: tried the Kimura flip on Blue Morgan, nothing doing. Not sure if he was based too well, too heavy or if I was really committing to it by really flipping over him. Anyway, Helicopter Choke and Juji Armbar might be worth looking into.

My Curriculum (5-6 years)

I. Self-Defense/Escapes
II. Closed Guard
III. Passing

And each heading will take me down so many paths:
 Self-Defense
 a. punch defense (standing and inside Guard)
 b. headlock defense
 c. bearhug from behind
 d. choke from behind

Escapes
 a. Mount
 b. Back
 c. Side Control
 d. Turtle

Closed Guard
 a. Sweeps
 b. Submissions
 c. vs. getting Guard Opened

Passing
 a. Closed Guard
 b. Open Guard

Just to here will take up up to middle of Purple Belt.

And eventually, Open Guard (sweeps and subs), and Half Guard (top and bottom). And then, Maintaining each of the positions, and then, only then, Submissions from each of the positions.

Taps: 3229

Taps: 1. Total: 3229.

BB Joel -- I. Half Spider X Sweep (baiting him).

II. Spider Pass - step over.

III. Spider Pass 2 - Thrust forward, into a Over/Under cross choke Pass.

Lots of White Belts in house. Must of had a Groupon.

PB Pierre the Nightmare had me in Kesa for the longest f'ing time. But at least he couldn't submit with his usual shit. Not happy though that I couldn't escape. If it was the Street, there would have been lots of punches raining down on me while I was stuck there.

Back to Kesa ESC -- Kesting?

Bonus: BB Jason was showing a Berimbolo from Closed Guard top. Roll into it as soon as he opens his Guard. Never seen it from that position before.

Working the Leite Half Guard and Sky Pass. Could not get out of Side Control from Upper Belts. Couldn't do the two-on-1 from the Seminar and completely forgot about the Sit up Escape.

Taps: 3228 and Renato Magno Seminar

Taps: 6. Total: 3228.

Seminar -- 2 on 1 Tie (aka Russian Tie).

1. From Stand up
  a. getting to the side, countering Double Leg shoot
  b. walking into him, pulling to various Takedowns.

2. Side Control Bottom
  a. ESC with 2 on 1 Tie
  b. Kimura grip ESC
      i. Details: a) get on my side; b) don't let him step over my face; c) big Upa as he pull his arm back
  c. BB T. Bond - roll over sweep / shoulder grab, get on side, on elbow then butt in the air and flip him over.

3. from Closed Guard: arm drag to 2-on-1.
  a. tech stand up and come over on other side w/ arm twist
  b. if he grabs my leg and can't get out, push forward and he falls over.

II. Passes - Spider Guard

After: food and drinks ... which i skipped to roll. I can always find food. Partners to roll are harder to come by.

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Taps: 3222

Taps: 4. Total: 3222.

BB Chris.

Tech I - Reverse DLR, hook to a roll over sweep.

Tech II - Open Guard to X Guard.
Details: left hook, right over, but knee inside. Really hook with the left, and stretch them out.

III - X guard to armbar, if they stay close.

IV - Cross their arms, Scissor Sweep to the top arm side.

Some luck with Leite's Half Guard: coming up but having trouble rolling the other way. Gotta keep working it and keep it in the Toolbox.

Saturday, October 3, 2015

Taps: 3218

Taps: 2. Total: 3218.

BB Chris - DLR Pass. Step over and sit on non-DLR leg. Go to the right and staple the DLR. Cross face and back step to the DLR side.

Still need work on: Passing - Faria and Sky Pass. And try to work in the Double Under Knee Up.

Closed Guard - Braulio's posture break and armbar. Or remember to duck under, underhook the leg, too.

Saw a cool 2-on-1 Butterfly Guard series from Xande. Try to work on that soon.

Try to not use so much energy. Chill.

Man, Brown Dean has such a tough Butterfly Guard. Have such a tough time passing and even getting to Half Guard, he's so squirelly, he just re-Guards easily. Damn.

Lots to work on.

Update:

Saw lil bro brown at dinner and asked about Butterfly counters.

I. Half Hop movement into the sweep as he tries to sweep you.
II. Pass - push him flat, get tight, and two on one on his leg; fall hip first heavy over his knee and come up to knee again for the Pass.

Drill both.
