Fear, go where the fear lives. Train with the toughest, no matter the color of belt. Ego. Fear of losing to lower belt. There's no winning, so no losing. Just learning.
Might take me a couple of sessions, but i will go where fear lives, where the ego fears to tread. Face it head on. What's the worse that could happen? A lower belt taps me? That's happened before.

2nd person to come up and say they saw the podcast. A big Blue Belt that looked like Fred Flintstone. Super nice guy.
Passing - saw a Wrist grab, Underhook, pin either Hips or Shoulder for the Pass. Tried that a little. Early stages.
Then Brown Bhasar passed so easily with his two Ankle grab Torreando.
Don't think, just roll.
Taps: 1. Total: 130.
Guest Brian Mendez of Six Blades (of Riberio brand). He showed a standup and ground tech. I really liked the stand up. I need to drill more stand up.
Ko Uchi Gari --
1. opp grabs w right hand same side collar grip on left side. Grip Break -- near hand grip gi under his hand / outside hand C up on outside. Break by pushing to the Right.
2. Step in, get close, Left outside hand goes over his back. Left foot traps his front Right foot for Foot Sweep. Usually won't get it. He will step out.
3. Shuffle step close / right foot in, then Left foot TRIPs his other foot. Takedown into a Knee Cut.
Lights out #3 -- rolling w Brown Belt. He had a loop choke from bottom. I had a pressure on top. I might have leaned into his choke. Thought, "uh oh" and was about to tap, when next i know he is waking me up from a nice short dream. Not long enough for me to really enjoy or remember.

BB Tarca destroyed me as always.
Brn Bhasar always give me great tips:
1. Passing / heel to toe, get pass the knee, knee into hip, and you got the pass. Just turn the knee in pass his knee.
2. Kob drill - kob to knee on shoulder pin, both sides.

Had a feeling that BB Uday misunderstood my BB speech where I count taps. He's created a spreadsheet to keep track of his TAPs, and has been going around telling everyone about it, and also saying that I was the inspiration for it.
But but, he's counting when He taps others, whereas I am counting when OTHERS tap ME. It's like collecting scalps or notches on your belt. It's the opposite of what i am doing and what BB Keith Owens (RIP, 2022).
“I have tapped 10,000 times… that is the quota you need to give to become a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.” He stresses in this inspiring video, that the journey to a black belt is not about tapping others out, but rather about being tapped out yourself, a process that fosters learning and growth.
Also rolled with a JJ Machado BB, who was quite good at Truck and nullified by Octopus game by rolling into Truck and its subs, calf slicers etc. He mounted and baited me, giving me an ankle for quarter guard so he could roll me.
There was a moment where we were inverted and in equal position, where Ryan Hall talks about either person could roll the other and i couldn't remember, until i asked him about it and i could see better when he was doing it on someone else.
Basically, it's the HIPs. My hips were up and higher than his, so i had no leverage. Whereas his were on the mat. Also, my leg was in too deep in the crook of behind his knee. Had to be out more on his calf.

Trying out new alarm clock. Failed. Slept in to reg. OM at 8am. So had time to hit up ole Arman's place, A-side.
Still growing. Only two Purples, one Blue and rest Whites. Other than BB Arman, who got me with the 3 taps, two with heel hooks. Not sure why i got in a leglock battle with him. He's so much better at it and I don't really know what i'm doing. Kinda like what happens against BB Tim.

Also rolled with Prof Joey for first time. known him all this time and first time we rolled bc he wanted to break in my BB. There are depths and depths. i got to see the deep end of the pool. that's why you should always roll w a BB when you can.
Thinking:

Alright, alright. Booked first session of 2024.
Heavy BB, who kills me every time. Kinda lets me get good position then just reverses my advantage. And he's not using his weight on me, except when he gets on top. sheesh.
