19.101 Sat Breakfast / 5674 - last sesh before Surgery

BB Joel -- Sit Up Guard Series.

I. Collar Drag

II. Collar Push / Ankle tap
 a. same side collar, then push across and stiff arm

III. Collar Drag to Loop Choke
 a. drag down, loop in
 b. near knee/leg goes in and traps a la cruxifix
 c. fall towards his butt, loop choke set
 d. finish by getting other leg over to the back of his head, and pressing, tightening the choke.

Funny, purp eddie and purp paul -- the guy who injured my pec many moons ago and now i have to have surgery were both there today. haven't seen them in ages.

Side ESC -- they were demo a gurgel one push and stiff arm against collar and come up. Need to frame on his hip, too. Always looking for the magic Side ESC.

19.100!! Thurs Turkey Day open mat -- Legacy 5672

I really wanted to go to Simi Open Mat ... in honor of KB. Just couldn't make it up there with the timing of family obligations. Will try for Xmas open mat.

Having said that, Legacy was crowded! Lots of peeps from the Sunday Confessions. Saw Brn Leglock Tim ... asked for refresher to Knee Cut to 411.

Brn Monster Nick now a Black Belt. Tapped me five times. Tim declined to roll with him Smart. BB Ray was there, got me with Bow and Arrow, need to review Esc. I'm supposed to hold his ankle so he can't swivel but i think it was way too late.

Maybe people thought my faded Brown was a dirty White Belt. Rolled with a couple of Whites and Blues. Tried not to bully them. But did sweep them easily from Half.

Only one more sess before surgery. Plan is to buy a small mat and grappling dummy to use while i recover. Could be 3 to 6 months. Damn.

Well plenty of time to study. Escs and basics.

19.99 Sat Breakfast Club 5566 and bad news

BB Chris ... basic Side Mount to Mount Drill.

Bad News -- need surgery for a detached Tendon in my pectorial muscle from March 2018. Finally consulted a PT, who suggested i see a orthopedic surgeon and he got me an Xray and MRI and it's a torn tendon, that i've been rolling with for over a year and half.

My random thoughts on basics ... focus on three positions and branch out from there.

I. Closed Guard -- danaher top lock armlock

II. Side ESC

III. Passing

Those three will lead to others and will keep me busy for years to come.

BB Vince ... Turtle Series
 I. Trap Wrist on Wrist
   a. Turn my head into him, then Rollover Sweep

 II. Trap Wrist
  a. Stick my near foot on outside of his, Roll back sweep

 III. if he sprawls and gets heavy
  a. Duck my head under and out
  b. release the wrist control and grab around his waist and come up in Turtle top / Back
   ** Do it fast enough so he doesn't Counter with a Step into MOUNT.

Bonus:
 Half Pass I -- get knee out, regular Knee Cut

 Half Pass II -- turn him into Quarter Guard, bring other leg over for Far Side Knee Cut.

*Man, finally back on the mat. It's been 11 days since last training.

 Working on: Danaher Top Lock Armbar
  Drilling SEQ
   1. Grips: Cross sleeve / Cross Collar
   2. Top lock/ High Guard -- shimmy to get on side to get space to lock up Top Lock
   3. Top foot reaches for far shoulder to break him down further
   4. Wrist on wrist control (to prevent RNC defense)
   5. Pass leg over his face, feet pointed down and below my knees ... if done right, should be able to control without my hands gripping his wrist.

from Brn Kris ... haven't seen him for awhile. Still recovering from shoulder injury. he told me an interesting thing -- when he escapes from bottom, he waits for the top person's muscles to TENSE up, that's when he moves. When they tense up, they are getting ready to move.
