Black Joel's Sunday fun day.
Tech 1 - Judo takedown, with the inner foot reap.
1. Push with right hand collar.
2. Step in with right foot, cross over with left.
3. Right foot goes between his leg and hook out his outside leg.
Tech. 2. Scissor Sweep.
Love these basic techs. I always pick up a detail or two.
Detail 1: knee across chest.
Detail 2: hip out, create space and pull him toward me -- that will make him light.
Tech. 2: Scissor Sweep var. w/ the two sleeve grips.
1. Pull both sleeves the way I want to sweep.
Also, he taught us to start with this grip set up: 1. Cross collar grip, not too deep, so that the knuckle is against his neck; 2. other hand on his knee to threaten the Rey sweep.
And if he tries a two-hand grip break on the collar grip, grip one sleeve grip, pull and go right into the Scissor Sweep.
Drill update.
Ryan Hall bump triangle - but I'm just focusing on the bump sweep part of it. And a key detail, different than the way I was doing is, he drops his knee to the mat and tight against the other guy's knee to block that side. It's quite effective.
Now I've been into my 1000 solo rep drill of this tech but on my left side, but I noticed a lot of guys were pushing my right knee down and passing to that side. So I should probably drill the bump sweep to that side. So I start my drill count all over, and do that side? Ah man.
