Taps: 1. Total: 338.
Tech. 1 - Closed Guard, Figure 4 Grip Break to Arm Drag to Back.
Tech. 2 - Open Guard, De La Riva to Single Leg, or Deep Half Sweep.
Rolling: Brown Vince killed me with his Deep Half, but I'm not going to worry about it and I'm not going to focus on countering it just yet. I want to keep concentrating on the basics, maybe later on in the year I'll start exploring it.
I'm also making an effort to roll with all the tough guys, like Purple Z and Big White Jim (who everyone is afraid of because he's so strong and big), and even Aggro Blue, who goes a 110% in his rolls with everyone.
Fear. What's the worst that can happen if I roll with a tough guy? 1. Injury. 2. I tap. I need to learn how to avoid injuries by rolling slowly and using technique against overly aggressive people. And tapping? I'm not too worried about that. That's what this whole blog's about.
I don't usually talk about tapping others because it is such a race occurrence, but almost tapped a White with Marcelo's North/South Choke, but the two or three times I was able to sink it in in the past, I've always had a problem finishing, so I released it but he said I was close. I did tap Blue Edgar with a choke from the back/side when I had mount and got first hand in for the cross choke, he rolled and I was able to get his Back and still had the grip, and my other hand went under his arm and behind his head, but I think he had a hand in there defending, and was thinking about going for the armbar when he tapped.
That's it. I don't like to talk about tapping others lest it gets my ego bigger. If the tap happens, it happens.
