Tech -- all Half Guard Sweep Series.
I. (w/ Underhook), Foot Grab Sweep 1.
1. Prevent crossface by having my right hand on his left biceps; left hand has underhook and grabbing his belt at his back. Dive between his legs and grab foot of his free leg (left).
2. Swing my legs with his trapped leg over to the left, bringing him over me, and passing his foot from my right hand to my left; and my right hand cups under his knee, taking out his base.
3. Right leg still has his leg trapped; bridge with my left leg over to the right.
4. Sweep, then keep moving toward his head, tight grip on his leg with my legs, then kick my leg free, then put knee into his hip, keeping my butt low. Cross face with left hand for the Side Control.
II. w/ Underhook - the other direction.
III. Deep Half Sweep w/ frame.
1. My right hand prevents crossface, my left is on his shoulder across his neck preventing the underhook.
2. Dive between his legs again with my right hand, my left hand over his left thigh and link hands behind his butt.
3. Swing my hips over to the left bringing him over me and making him post his hands on the mat.
4. He should move back and into my Deep Half. Trap his top hand onto his trapped leg and turn into him for the sweep.
IV. Same but he bases and Sweep the other way.
Bonus: Omoplata Esc -- Black Chris cheekily showed a crawl under the leg escape. But the inspiring moment was when the Brown Belt was showing Black Chris a different cool Omoplata escape, and he was actually trying to learn it. He was still trying to learn at his stage in his BJJ career. He looked awkward as any White Belt trying his first move, but he tried it over and over again. Very motivating and inspiring!
The escape, by the way, was post your near leg up, shoot your arm under to roll over your shoulder and come up in his Guard. Wished I had brought my iPad to video it.
They need to come up with a name for it, too!
Homework -- drill.
1. Closed Guard - attacks from bottom. Pendulum Sweep.
2. Closed Guard breaks (top). Scully and Lovato.
3. Tozi Pass -- how to keep him from moving? Sit on his hip.
4. Triangle ESC.
5. Loop Choke from Side. (using gi).
