Mendes Spider Pass Breakdown

Blue Brian has been really giving me problems with his Spider Guard. I have been having a hard time clearing one side of his Leg on my bicep and his sleeve grip on my same side. Time to revisit, review a Spider Pass.

Rafael Mendes Spider Guard Pass.

General tips: 1. Get off knee; 2. Don't move forward.

1. Posture: lower hips, like squat, close elbows, and step back (get him off his back, on his butt -- that lessens power of his feet.)
2. Choose a side. Example: to Left, clearing his right leg -- to clear his foot and hand grips, Circle my left hand under his leg. Then stretch, straighten my arm and grab his pants at the knee.
3. Take a step to the Right, while my right hand Drags his other leg to the left.
4. Then come Back to the Left (walk towards his hips), my left leg under both is legs. Put shoulder pressure on his top knee.
5. My left hand -- switch from pants knee to far, same side collar grip, to keep him close and flat.
6. Right hand goes under his head (cross face), grabs his gi at shoulder.
7. Move towards his head, my right knee under his arm, my elbow on top of my thigh to secure Side Control.
